Hurricane Melissa Brought Destruction

Together, We Bring Hope

The people of Jamaica urgently need your support to survive and rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastation.

For the next 6 months, we will work with our partners on sending a container of life-saving supplies - including solar generators, medical essentials, and personal hygiene products - every month to support families in crisis.

Our shipping partner, Kings Group Logistics, has already delivered two containers of life‑saving supplies to Jamaica. Each shipment is carefully tailored to meet the urgent needs identified by communities working to rebuild their lives.

For the upcoming delivery, we are proud to join forces with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which has worked closely with the Jamaican Teachers’ Association (JTA) to compile a list of the most essential items. These supplies are focused on strengthening safety, restoring communication, and ensuring educational continuity for students and teachers across the island.

Educational Continuity Supplies

Items like:

- - - - School bags and backpacks
      - Hard-cover notebooks and writing books
      - Pens, pencils, markers, erasers, and basic stationery kits

These items will help teachers return to routines of learning, particularly in those households where supplies were destroyed or lost.

Emergency Communication and Power Supply

Items like:

- - - - Solar-powered generators and portable solar panels
      - Camp radios or hand-crank radios
      - Starlink or similar satellite communication systems to restore internet connectivity

These items will help support isolated communities, enable communication among teachers and school leaders, and restore coordination where cellular networks remain unstable.

Shelter and Safety Equipment

Items like:

- - - - Camp tents / large tents / tarps
      - 50-watt solar lights or rechargeable LED lamps
  - - - Collapsible water storage containers or portable water purification systems

These resources are critical for displaced teachers and their dependents.
